The diagnosis of Reye’s syndrome is established by exclusion.
To ask are:
- standard blood tests;
- liver function tests;
-blood gas analysis; - ammonia in the blood;
- amino acids in blood and urine;
-toxic substances in the blood and urine; - examination of the cerebrospinal fluid;
- ultrasound of the liver;
-Brain CT or MRI of the brain;
-EEG;
Eventually, even a liver biopsy may be requested.
